Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority After the Americans Left

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) was created after the US Naval Base closed and the Americans left the country after a historic vote of the Philippine Senate to end American military presence in our land. It is located in the province of Zambales in a parcel of land near Olongapo City.
Its perfect cove is ideal for navigation to the country and it is the reason why the Americans chose it as a naval base in earlier times. They also built an airport which has international standards since military planes also landed in the base. Now, it is a port which receives container as well as cruise ships. Chartered international flights also land in its airport.
Since it boasts of a very good docking area and blue waters, SBMA is home to the Subic Bay Yacht Club where boats and yachts of well-to-do families and expatriates are docked. There are also several water leisure activities for those who wish of avail of such.
They hold the annual Subic Bay Cup which is an Asian Yachting Race. Local as well as international tourists participate in the said sporting activity.
Several hotels and resorts have built their establishments inside SBMA. With the many tourists that go there, it is but right to built them. There are malls and department stores that can be visited inside SBMA.
Restaurants abound inside SBMA. The Waterfront is the most popular among the food joints inside the former base. Although, there are other food venues scattered there.
Whether during daytime or night time, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority has lots to offer. Whether going there for a family outing or just have dinner amidst sea breeze, SBMA is a delight to visit. Just three hours away from Metro Manila and an hour from Clarkfield, Pampanga, it is worth the trip.
